After a string of successful events in Hull, both EVOLUTION and VIVACITY are collaborating to bring you an event like no other in the city. Combining DJ's and live bands we will be brining you arsenal of different sounds throughout the evening, ranging from minimalist and electro house to funk, hip hop, indie and pop. We're keen to bring a selection of the best in signed and unsigned, underground artists and we're intent on making an enjoyable, relaxed atmosphere and getting people moving.



PARIS XY:



Paris XY are a duo whose unusual sounds are almost unlike anything to be heard on any music scene at the moment. They describe their sound as ‘dark heavy electronica, near deep house but with elements of trip hop,' but this is not justification of the songs they produce. They like to combine traditional elements such as vocal and guitar with live synths, drum machines and pre-sampled atmospheric soundscapes. Attention to the duo is not just focused in The North Of England however, as recently they've played sold out headline shows in every corner of the globe, including Berlin (Germany), Poznan (Poland), Mariobor (Slovenia) and Vienna (Austria).

KEV LA KAT:



Kev La Kat is the founder of Hull based free download label Love Our Records and plays bass in renowned hip hop outfit endoflevelbaddie. We welcome him to The Duchess for his first York show as A DJ, and we very much look forward to having him grace our decks. He creates a staggering range of tunes and will be incorporating them into his set, alongside new and classic releases from his label mates. Expect doses of hip hop, minimal/house and even a samba vibe coming and going. Recent shows have included a whole host of festival appearances over the summers, most noticeably Leeds and Reading, Beach Break and headlining the Humber St Sesh.

LA PETITE MORT:



La Petite Mort are quickly becoming one of our favourite artists after a string of very impressive shows for us in Hull. Back on their local scene and armed with a sax you can expect to be mesmerized by the plethora of psychedelic dreamscapes their instruments craft. You can't put your finger on their style, but 'trippy, murky, jazzy walls of noise' is a pretty decent way to sum them up. A staggering live show and a performance that really is second to none in York.
