The Hawklords re-emerged in 2009 with a memorial concert for legendary British artist, the late Barney Bubbles, graphic designer for many of Hawkwind’s early 1970s albums.

The concert, filmed in London, was commercially released on dual-layer DVD early in 2011.

Hawklords returned to the road, touring both in the UK and Europe in 2011 and then again in 2012 to promote their critically acclaimed studio album, ‘We Are One’, which comprised all new original material.

2013 saw the release of their second studio album ‘Dream’ which was promoted with the ‘The Reality Tour’, a new show featuring classic ‘Hawk’ related songs alongside material from both ‘Dream’ and ‘We are One’.

The band has also headlined major and independent UK festivals during the past four years.

The live shows feature a stunning digital projected lightshow, specially created by lighting designer and tour circuit veteran, Dave ‘Lighthouse’ Johnson.

Current band members are:

HARVEY BAINBRIDGE: Synthesizer & Vocals – original member of Hawklords 1978 line-up and long serving member and writer with Hawkwind 1977 – 1993 and respected solo artiste.

DAVE PEARCE: Drums – from British psyche-rock band The Bevis Frond and most recent addition to The Hawklords line-up.

JERRY RICHARDS: Guitar & Vocals – veteran of the UK free festival scene of the 1980′s. Lead guitarist, writer and producer with Hawkwind, 1996 to 2001.

ADRIAN SHAW: Bass & Vocals – respected veteran of the UK rock scene, bassist and writer with Hawkwind for the classic ‘Quark, Strangeness & Charm’ and ‘PXR5′ albums 1977 – 1978 and current member of The Bevis Frond.

RON TREE: Lead vocals, Oscillators – survivor of the 1980′s UK free festival scene and lead vocalist, bass player and writer with Hawkwind, 1995 to 2001.

HAWKLORDS

Dream

(OWN LABEL) www.hawklords-official.soundawesome.com

With this, their second studio album, Hawklords have really come into their own. The pugnacious punkiness that made last year’s We Are One so thrilling is still there on numbers like the throbbing ‘Nature’s Dance Coda’ and live favourite ‘I.D. Man’, but this outing sees much more of the band’s spacey DNA on show.

With Harvey’s crystalline keyboards to the fore, and everyone else chipping electronics into the mix, there are plenty of passages to send heads spiralling into the cosmos, with Jerry’s guitar weaving the whole fabric together. This isn’t to suggest a softer edge though, as with Hawkwind circa 1980, the power is in the subtle depths as much as the forward momentum.

Key track is the majestic ‘Nowhere Everywhere’, featuring fellow ex-Hawk Paul Hayles: a sweeping, swirling slab of cosmic melancholy, which I’ve pretty much got on repeat play. But throughout, from the mantra-like opener ‘Dream A Dream’ to the maelstrom finale of ‘Psychic Eyes’, the supple rhythm section pumps the music through the currents of outer and inner space, while Ron’s vocals – some of the best of his career – keep things simultaneously grounded in the 21st century streets.

Hawklords ‘Dream’: Album Review from Classic Rock Magazine – November 2013

“With too convoluted a history to document here, the current incarnation – Harvey Bainbridge from the original ’78 spin off, plus several other mothership veterans – jettisons most of last year’s We Are One [album] for an airier dynamic. The closest comparison would be Levitation/Sonic Attack-era Hawkwind. ‘Dream A Dream’ updates Motorway City with a heavy trance back end and ‘Psychic Eyes’ is Coded Languages in a parallel reality. As persuasive as these are, the ante is upped on ‘Dead Air’ – a reverse-echoed slice of futuristic whimsy redolent of Laurie Anderson’s O Superman – and the uplifting melody of ‘Elemental Mind’. …. The balance between looking back and forward is expertly struck.” 7/10 stars (Tim Batcup)

Alan Hewitt from TWRonline (Anthony Phillips & Steve Hackett, formerly of Genesis) – October 2013:

“What impresses the most about this album is the sheer sense of fun which is prevalent throughout it. Adventure, humour, lyricism and pure Hawklords music makes this an album that will be a hit with established fans and make the band new ones too – me included – excellent stuff!”
