Former New York Dolls lead guitarist Steve Conte is a player, singer & songwriter whose reputation precedes him. Widely known for his work with a number of rock icons, he’s also a highly respected artist in his own right. He became known to the music world through his band Company Of Wolves (Mercury, 1990) and since then has written songs, sang or played with the Dolls, Michael Monroe, Billy Squier, Suzi Quatro, Willy DeVille, Peter Wolf, Eric Burdon, Chuck Berry and many more. Currently, he leads the band “Steve Conte NYC” and is on tour in support of the band’s debut release, The Steve Conte NYC Album.

Early on, Conte was influenced by guitarists Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards & Jimi Hendrix – as well as vocalists Paul Rodgers, Rod Stewart & Steve Marriott. In the wake of the British Invasion, he began writing songs and recording his own brand of melodic rock at the tender age of 10.

Steve’s latest record, The Steve Conte NYC Album is a Rock and Roll classic, featuring guest performances by members of Foo Fighters, Alice Cooper, Mott The Hoople, New York Dolls,

Georgia Satellites, Mink DeVille, Hanoi Rocks, The Hellacopters, The Wildhearts, Backyard Babies, Company Of Wolves, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, The Wallflowers, Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes and Bruce Springsteen. “Little Steven” Van Zandt recently discovered the SC NYC album, adding five of the tracks to his Underground Garage Radio Show playlist, one of which was crowned “Coolest Song In The World”. Van Zandt says it is, “Without a doubt, one of the best records of the year!”

Says Rolling Stones/U2 producer Steve Lillywhite; "There is very little genuine rock and roll out there at the moment - but Steve Conte has hit the nail on the head!" Bad Company/Free drummer Simon Kirke calls Conte, “Fantastic, original and smart…with superb musicianship”. Former boss Willy DeVille stated that Steve possessed, “A million dollar voice”, while Guitar magazine called him, “A guitar god in waiting”.

On his previous album, Steve Conte & The Crazy Truth (Varese Sarabande/ Universal, 2009), Conte enjoyed the favor of the music press; UK’s Classic Rock Magazine gave it 5 out of 5 stars saying it was, “Music to instigate and soundtrack fighting, fucking, speeding, hurling abuse and waking up buck naked in a stranger’s bathroom.” Fans of the album include Rick Richards (Georgia Satellites), Cheetah Chrome (The Deadboys), Dennis Dunaway (Alice Cooper), Billy Squier, Willie Nile and Ginger (The Wildhearts). Steve toured with The Crazy Truth throughout Europe & America sharing stages with the likes of Nashville Pussy, Tom Morrello (Rage Against The Machine), Jim Jones (The Jim Jones Revue) and Steve “Boltz” Bolton (The Who). Steve has also released 3 albums with his bass playing brother John under the names, “The Contes” and “Crown Jewels”.

Conte’s songs have appeared on dozens of major label & indie records, as well as in Feature Films & Network TV Programs (Sons Of Anarchy , The Firm.) Recently, Steve wrote the lion’s share of “Horns And Halos”, the latest album by former Hanoi Rocks front man Michael Monroe, which is approaching Platinum status in Finland & was nominated for “Album Of The Year” by the Finnish Grammy Awards.
