10/05/2013

About this Event

On the absolute razor-edge of everything vibrant and current coming from the UK music scene, Lovedough has become over the course of the past twelve years absolute institution for urban fiends in the know. The roster of live artists that have already played this night is nothing short of world class, with Labrinth, A$AP Rocky, Delilah, Maverick Sabre, Sway, Cleo Sol and Mcknasty all taking to the stage in recent months.

Lovedough Live

hosted by Amanda Star

7.30pm – 10.30pm

JAKWOB live

When James Jacob, aka dance producer and remixer Jakwob, was younger he flitted between different bands and genres, taking in everything from jazz to folk to death metal. While the latter hasn't really made its presence felt in his remixes for the likes of Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey or Jessie J, it does hint at his obsession with mixing things up. While his 2012 single Electrify absorbed aspects of dubstep, breakbeat and classical to create something oddly joyous, his current single Fade lowers the BPM, at least initially, before channeling 1990s drum'n'bass and utilising big dramatic piano riffs. Featuring vocals from newcomer Maiday, whose co-writing credits include the No 1 single Don't Go by Wretch 32 and Girls Aloud's last ever single Beautiful 'Cause You Love Me, it's a much more immediate slice of radio-friendly pop that should see Jakwob step out from behind the mixing desk.

BEBE BLACK live

Bebe Black first came to many people's attention when she lent her vocal talents to Benga's 'Icon', but she'd been plenty busy before that and already had an album recorded by the time she was approached for the collaboration. January her release her Deathwish EP, and before the end of the year we should see her debut album surface, and Black's keen to make clear that her track with Benga doesn't make her a dance artist.
