Residency: Freddie Abel x Luke Purbrick

30/06/2023

About this Event

Freddie Abel Parish is a trumpeter and composer from east London. After starting his career in soul, funk and reggae bands as a young teenager, he discovered his love for jazz and began to dive deeper into music. He aims to use his studies and his musical background to create interesting fusions, and a great experience for the audience.

To kick off his summer residency at Notting Hill Arts Club with a bang, Freddie has assembled a band featuring some of the best musicians on the London scene, together with a few special guests.

Luke Purbrick is a young jazz guitar player who has had the privilege of studying with the award-winning saxophonist and composer Binker Golding at Tomorrow's Warriors which inspired him to form the LP Quartet and write his music. Since he was only sixteen years old, he has played in jam sessions in Brighton and London and is showing great potential as part of the UK scene.

2022 saw him record his debut EP 'First Conversations' with his quartet. It has had significant regional radio play as well as a feature on Worldwide FM with Jay Phelps. Luke and his band performed at Love Supreme and the New Generation Jazz Festival, where the Jazzwise review described them as "Extremely deft, ones to watch!"
