The Nest is proud to announce The Mouse Outfit will be playing at The Nest as part of their winter tour bringing their incredible live show showcasing hip hop, reggae & funk plus emcees Dr Syntax and Sparkz on vocals.

~ The Mouse Outfit Bio ~

The Mouse Outfit are a production team and 9 piece hip hop, funk and reggae band centred around core members Chini, Pitch and Defty currently recording and performing with Dr Syntax, Sparkz, Truthso Mufasa, Fox,Dubbul O, Black Josh, and other artists.



The Mouse Outfit was founded in 2008 by Paul Hooley (Chini) + James Defty. They formed a band and began producing music with a number of local musicians + vocalists. Defty started a jam night, in order to meet local talent, called ‘In the Loop’ (where rappers would freestyle to live breaks from The Mouse Outfit band) here, they began crafting a live show with hip hop and funk breaks combined with original grooves. The band then started gigging locally and around the UK.



After uploading a track to BBC Introducing they were asked to perform a session at BBC Maida Vale studios on BBC Radio 6. Another of Chini’s students, Ian Garland (Pitch) joined in 2011 as a beat maker. Pitch had been working with Dr Syntax and he soon started working with the band as well. ‘In The Loop’ regular Sparkz was asked to feature on a track and after recording several singles he also became a regular member of the live show.



Chini continued producing music with local rappers + musicians and recording them in his studio over his own beats and beats from Pitch + the result was ‘Escape Music’ their debut album released in May 2013. This won Wordplay Magazine's hip hop album of the year in 2013 and was included in ABC News' top 50 albums of 2013.



~ The Maitree Express Bio ~



The Maitree Express are a 6 piece band from Bath rapidly gaining in popularity. They play original tracks drawing inspiration from reggae, dub, ska, hip hop, funk and music guaranteed to get you moving.



The band started gigging in June 2015 after releasing their debut album and have been extremely busy ever since. 2016 has seen them play a weeklong winter tour of the French Alps as well as supporting big acts such as Jamaican reggae star Jesse Royal, rising Brit reggae stars Shanty, London reggae/ska band The Majestic and 90s hit sensation Republica. They've also shared the stage with acts like Eva Lazarus, Solo Banton, Foreign beggars, Dub Phizix, Asian Dub Foundation, General Roots, Lionstar & Junior Dread.



They've headlined Afrofest in Sheffield as well as events for Oxfam and Greenpeace, played at iconic at festivals such as Boomtown fair, One Love, Nozstock, Kaya fest & Calnefest to name a few whilst clocking up over 3,200 miles on the road.
