Happyness/Broadbay/OhBoy!

22/10/2016

About this Event

First off I should point out that as this is a benefit gig for a fantastic cause all of the bands are giving up their time for absolutely nada. Zip. Zero pounds.

Nice to know there are still some nice people out there eh?

Anyway, may I present to you....The bands.

Happyness are bloody brilliant.

Following several US tours, and sold out UK dates with Mac Demarco, they interupt their tour with Twin Peaks to bring their lovely blend of wry lyrics (which won them an NME award don't cha know) and laid back indie pop to the Picturdrome for this very special one off benefit gig.

This is huge.

If you don'y understand why then give their album "Weird little birthday" a few spins, come along to the gig and watch them. You'll understand afterwards.

Their new ep is out now. You hear it here: http://spoti.fi/2deKUCy

Local legends Broadbay bring the rawk to the line up.

The past year has seen them share line ups with Gnarwolves, Yuck, Crows n Wra, Muskets, Bloody knees and many many more. Winning over ever growing legions of fans with their energetic live shows, and killer choons.

They've recorded a brand new 6 track ep due out early next year, but in the meantime they've got a busy schedule of sticking it to the man in as many towns and cities as possible.

Writing about OhBoy! is awkward for me as I'm in the band. We are by our very nature quite an awkward bunch, so bigging ourselves up doesn't come very easily. So instead I'll just give you a list of some stuff we've been up to.

-Signed to Alcopop Records in January.

-Got played quite a bit on Radio 1, Radio X, 6music.

-Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq came to see us at a gig and had to be snuck in the back door so as not to cause a scene.

-Amongst others, this summer we played The Great Escape, Camden Rocks, Handmade festival, Truck fest and Glastonbury. Which was nice.

-Now America's been on the phone.
