Since the release of his debut E.P ‘Real Talk’ his career as a full-time musician and a spoken word artist has surged, leading to many achievements both personally and professionally. Marcus performed alongside internationally renowned vocalist Emily Saunders and award-winning singer/ songwriter Angie Brown at the London Jazz Festival 2018. 2019 saw him play many festivals along with his band Major Ruse; including Love Supreme, We Out Here, Manchester Jazz Festival and Dot To Dot Festival. He has supported the likes of Oscar Jerome, Blue Lab Beats and The Blackbyrds at the Jazz Cafe as well as having Major Ruse's latest single played on BBC 6 Music. Marcus also played a live set on Tom Robinson's BBC 6 Music show in December 2019 and was interviewed with his band, Major Ruse. Marcus was selected as a New Voice for the Sound and Music's Major Composer Development Programme for 18 months. He used the time and opportunity to create his debut album, which subsequently got signed by Jazz Refreshed which was released early 2021. Marcus has developed his own unique sound: a warm fusion of Jazz, Reggae, Hip-Hop and Contemporary Music. His work has been supported by Tom Robinson (6Music), Gilles Peterson (6 Music), Tony Minvielle (Jazz FM), Dj Lanni (Worldwide FM) and Jay Phelps (Jazz FM, Worldwide FM).
