WBF presents Sea Read & San.Marlo

02/03/2017

About this Event

We Broke Free in conjuction with 60 Million Postcards are pleased to present:

SEA READ

Despite quietly maintaining this project since 2014 with a selection of nonchalant and sporadic bedroom recordings, SEA READ (Callum Read) managed to achieve some impressive early prestige as a songwriter, having contributed an original haunting song to the soundtrack of 2015 feature film The Hallow (dir. Corin Hardy) which

received its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival and picked up Best Horror at The Empire Awards (2016). Working consistently since late 2014 as the Tour Manager for Spanish garage-rock

act Hinds, as well as others including The Parrots, Dream Wife & Heyrocco, Callum’s attention is now being drawn back to the other side of the fence after travelling to Madrid this January to record at the recently opened Gamma Studio. Owned and operated by Diego, Lois & Fran - members of Madrid’s most influential contemporary rock bands (The Parrots, Lois, Los Nastys, Trajano!)

The World Is Ending is the first track to be released from the sessions at Gamma Studio produced by Diego Garcia (Hinds – Leave Me Alone) and previews what we can expect of SEA READ’s charming style of upbeat, yet melancholic, acoustically driven alternative-pop in 2017.

Influences include; Daniel Johnston, Juan Wauters, Conor Oberst / Bright Eyes, Neutral Milk Hotel, Connie Francis, David Dondero, Grandaddy, The Strokes, Coconut Records and (a lot) more.

Plus Support from

San. Marlo

San. Marlo are a four piece Indie/Psychedelic band from the south coast consisting of Connor Fox (Vocals/Rhythm Guitar), Jack Grace (Lead Guitar), Aaron Cameron (Bass) and Matt Edgeley (Drums).

The band initially started as an untitled solo project by Connor Fox whilst recording the debut EP ‘Prélude’ in January 2016. After drawing inspiration for the name of the project from St. Malo, a French City, the EP was self released in December 2016 and the solo-project quickly developed into a full band

San. Marlo’s sound reflects the hazy atmosphere of a desolate seaside town with an uplifting backbone of dense psychedelia.

Taking influence from a broad spectrum of music from Bowie to Tame Impala, Pink Floyd to Mac Demarco. San. Marlo create exciting, eclectic and raw music.
