ELZIBRAH & FRIENDS

14/12/2023

About this Event

Cultivated from a Jamaican background and first inspired by Christina Aguilera's "Stripped" and Beyoncé's "Dangerously in Love," Elzibrah, a self-taught songwriter and singer from Mitcham, is on a mission to evoke emotions with her new music. Singing in a Gospel choir from a young age laid the foundations for this 29-year-old artist. Elzibrah's voice echoes the soulful sounds of Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill, and the UK's finest, Ruth Brown (The Voices True Winner).

As the youngest of nine siblings and a former Royal Academy of Dance student, Elzibrah has collaborated with Britain’s Got Talent, performed at venues like Upstairs at Ronnie Scott’s, and provided backing vocals for her sister Ruth Brown at The Other Place Theatre.

Performing heartfelt songs inspired by personal experiences around love, politics, and identity, Elzibrah will headline Elzibrah & friends a jazzy acoustic night while being accompanied by Song Lo's delicate guitar strumming and Julian Nicholas's soulful saxophone.

The night will flow through to an open mic featuring the freshest most incredible musical talent coming out of London . This open mic a lineup will be displaying exceptionally talented up-and-coming music artists, including DK Smallz, Aquarias, Kitty Mac, JV, Tavinci, Predz, Aimz, S, Yishaq, Jabz, Ricky, Steppa, Mali, Yus, Hustle, and the sweet vocals of Mass and more. No two performances will ever be the same!

Support: Recording artist, session musician and contemporary jazz composer Julian Nicholas will be supporting the night. He recorded/ has toured with Carlene Anderson, A Man Called Adam, Belle And Sebastian and Ragga Twins amongst others.
