Good friends and previous collaborators with both 24 Kitchen Street and Abandon Silence, Madnice have worked with the Baltic Weekender crew to deliver a cross-ranging evening of soulful sounds, shining a spotlight on one of the UK’s great jazz hopes for a city debut and marking the return of some of the finest DJ exports from Peckham via Auckland, New Zealand, alongside some local selectors of the highest calibre.

Moses Boyd Solo X

Drummer, composer, Producer and electronic musician Moses Boyd is The London Born Winner of the MOBO Awards 2015 Best jazz act, The John Peel 'Play more Jazz Award’ from the 2016 Gilles Peterson Worldwide Awards. And the 2014 worshipful company of music young jazz musician of the year award.

Moses has worked and collaborated with the likes of Lonnie Liston Smith, Ed Motta, Little Simz, Four Tet, Floating Points, Sampha, Zara McFarlane, Gilles Peterson, and many more. Whilst leading his own outfits The Exodus and Solo Exodus which infuses Jazz, grime and electronica influences. Moses also releases music under his own label Exodus Records, with Rye Lane Shuffle proving to be one of the 12” releases of 2016. It is clear that Moses Boyd is set for greatness within a growing environment of classy UK jazz artists.

Chaos in the CBD

New Zealand brothers Ben and Louis Helliker-Hales are Chaos In The CBD. With their ever strengthening... production credentials, the brothers have been able to mark themselves out as one of the most eminent underground duos to emerge out of the South Pacific.

Play it in the club, play it in the hotbox, or play it for your mum, Chaos in the CBD and their work is filled with soulful, rhythmically complex, melancholic music that is unmistakably dusty.

Following previous releases on labels such as Rhythm Section, the brothers start 2017 with a bang, as their gig calendar fills up and a fresh release is imminent on their new label In Dust We Trust.

No Fakin’ / Madnice / Melodic Distraction

Liverpool’s very own, original purveyors of hip-hop and everything in between, No Fakin’ top the bill of local support on the night - celebrating 20 years in the game, it is a great pleasure to have the brothers hold it down on two turntables. The new-school will be represented by Melodic Distraction DJs, who successfully hold down their own radio station within the Baltic Triangle. And of course, the party will be hosted by the Madnice crew, fresh from celebrating 5 years of gigs and parties.

We look forward to seeing you at the opening to the Baltic Weekender. Stay left. Enjoy the dance. Spread love.
