About:

B A I T - www.facebook.com/hatebait

For those that have ever ruminated on the possibilities of using wasps as weapons, biological immortality, or Janet Street Porter’s teeth – you are not alone. And here is your soundtrack.

BAIT is the sound of industrial machines playing ping-pong in the back of a stolen XR3i tearing down the Autobahn. BAIT is the sound of surfing into a concrete wall, to the soundtrack of the monotonous bip of the U Boat radar.

BAIT is no mere band. BAIT is no simple record. BAIT is an art project.

BAIT’s album will be released on Southend’s emerging Cool Thing Records, responsible for spawning BBC 6 Music and Radio X favourites Asylums, The Horse Heads, and Becky Margaret.

Like an unholy science experiment that has spliced the genes of Killing Joke and Sleaford Mods, BAIT’s self-titled album is a 21st century post-punk classic in waiting. Excavating deep into a psyche and blasting it out through a wall of speakers, BAIT is a complex tapestry of humour, anger, determination, fear, selfies, identical twins, and disobedient elephants.

The identity of BAIT is not important.

Louis Antoniou - www.facebook.com/Louisantonioumusic

Queens of The Stone Age vs Arctic Monkeys. Socially conscious lyrics and hard hitting riffs. Doomed romances, run ins on nights out and seeing trolleys in lakes.

HVMM - www.facebook.com/wearehvmm

It was three winters ago that Andy and Sam met in a low-lit country pub, following a fight and a sizeable bill for glassware. Ebony’s initiation was more civilized. Andy spotted her stalking him during one of his ritual trawls of some local record shops. ‘You need me in your band’, was followed by coffee, countless roll-ups and ‘I do’. On low-end duty, one Jack was replaced by a bigger, bolder other, at around the same time Ebony was sworn in. The sum is the HVMM you see today.

To picture this foursome, you have to imagine looking at them through the opaque window of a Victorian mansion: dark, anachronistic, almost intangible figures with an eye for sartorial poise.

On the ear, they’re an alchemy of apoplectic rock – fizzing with brawny, off-time riffs – and rasping, super-charged vocals. The lyrics mix melancholy, black humour and romance.

Their stage is one of febrile chaos, sex and slick-back swagger. Thunderbolt choruses seize attention, swell crowds and make people pout.

PYRA - www.facebook.com/lovepyra

Feline like a paper cut, Pyra’s music deals in raw emotion set to a soundtrack of 60’s inspired violent guitars and drums.

Marilyn Manson meets Marilyn Monroe. Pyra loves The Kills, Nancy Sinatra, Lana Del Rey, The Rolling Stones and David Lynch – ‘If you want put me in a box you’ll have to cut me up into little pieces and put me into lots of boxes’.

“Bloody hell what a voice – it reaches down your pants while holding your heart before ripping it out through your throat”. Stephen Harris, Producer (Dave Matthews, Kodaline, U2, The Keiser Chiefs)

"A cultivation of creamy vibes set to melt any mind from the hustle and bustle of life’s sour lemons. A four-part troupe demonstrating remarkable skills of funk and soul and rock ‘n’ roll!" - PurpleMilk.org
