It is with absolute pleasure that we can finally announce that the top lads from nu-disco outfit Drop Out Orchestra will be flying in from their Scandinavian hideaway to appear live on a London dancefloor for the first time in five years, having made their UK debut for us back in 2011. Double celebrations are in order as the party also marks the third birthday for Cubed at Queen Of Hoxton too!

Drop Out Orchestra

mixcloud.com/dropoutorchestra

Taking their cues from original Disco pioneers such as MFSB as much as DFA, Drop Out Orchestra launched themselves onto the scene in 2008 with a seemingly endless supply of bootlegs, re-edits and covers that glittered like a frost covered mirror ball. Taking tracks by everyone from TLC and Daft Punk to Joy Division, Talking Heads and The Sex Pistols they transformed them into the kind of luxurious, gloriously sophisticated, and indeed soulful disco, that would have made Chic proud.

With their irresistibly taut and funky basslines, satin sheet strings and NEVER too much cowbell, The Drop Out Orchestra found themselves in demand as official remixers for both club scene peers such as Black Strobe and Flight Facilities and industry legends like Paul Weller. Meanwhile not content with just making other people’s music 100% more disco, original tracks, including collaborations with Ronika and LCD Soundsytem’s Nancy Whang, on labels like Eskimo Recordings and Gomma cementing their position as ones to watch.

Meanwhile whilst most their peers were transitioning to laptops and USB sticks, Drop Out Orchestra continue to bring live elements back into the dance music, not just in the studio but in the clubs too. Blurring the divide between live and DJ performances by incorporating live bass and electronics, a Drop Out Orchestra set is about as close to a guaranteed party starter as you’ll get in this business and seen them hand picked to play alongside everyone from Fatboy Slim to Gilles Peterson.

London based Jay Rossi (aka: Jac the Disco) is not unfamiliar to throwing a shindig or two. Better known under his ‘JTD’ pseudonym’ is resident DJ at the infamous ‘Discovery’ parties at London’s original disco institution The Horse & Groom.

The Discovery parties have been headstrong for 6 years and have seen acclaimed guests such as Tornado Wallace, Mark E, Pete Herbert, Dicky Trisco, I:Cube, Andy Blake, Eric Duncan, Rahaan, Justin Vandervolgen, Young Marco, Baby G, Loud E, The Revenge and many more joining them in the DJ Booth.

Their party ethos is simple; bringing the party to the party, where the guys and girls on the dance floor have as much fun as their guests who join them in the DJ booth; thus providing a magical carpet ride throughout the entire evening where you can expect to hear the finest house, disco and party jammer's
