About this Event

14th of July 1865 – The first ascent of the Matterhorn by Edward Whymper and party, four of whom die on the descent. Wow what tragedy can befall man’s quest to push the boundaries of human endurance.





When we asked the loopt lads for a comment on Whympers achievement, they sniggered and said "well what goes up must come down" before recalling a dull anecdote from global gathering 1997 which they’ve been regurgitating every week or so since
