About this Event

Scruff of the Neck presents

Cassia

Combining a rich musicality with continent-spanning influences, Cassia have made their mark with their own brand of calypso-flavoured tropi-pop, resulting in a deft balance of the quintessentially British, and the unequivocally exotic. Macclesfield might not be the first place you think of when you hear the sun-soaked grooves of the three-piece, but that’s exactly where the trio hail from.

Despite their relatively short space of time together, the chemistry and musicality Cassia exhibit is nothing short of impressive, and as such has seen the trio already support a plethora of up and coming acts, including Lisbon and Girl Friend. Shows which have resulted in the band appearing at festivals such as The Great Escape and as well as Y-Not Festival for three years running; their first appearance going down so well they’re becoming festival favourites.

Having spent the past several months turnings heads in every city they stepped foot, 2017 has seen Cassia ramp up their live presence, hitting new cities and festivals; including a debut stint in mainland Europe which will see the band take on both Horeca Festiva and Bau Sommerfest with the same sense of enthusiasm and vigour that’s present in their music

It’s that vigour, this undeniable energy, that has led to continued support from the BBC Introducing network; the likes of Rob Adcock and Christian Carlisle championing tracks such as ‘100 Times Over’ to such an extent that the track was playlisted on Radio One. No mean feat for a band still relatively young.
