Valerian Swing, Dialects and Madilan at Exchange Bristol

31/10/2017

About this Event

Did someone say Halloween? Let's get all spooky up in this hizzle.

Initially emerging in 2011, VALERIAN SWING cemented their place as one of most interesting bands in the Italian heavy scene, with their second album 'A Sailor Lost Around The Earth', and then at an international level with 2014’s ‘Aurora’.

2017 sees them return with their fourth full length album, ‘Nights', that is undoubtedly their most accessible, rich and varied record to date. Mixed by Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Isis, Botch, Russian Circles, Caspian) at Red and released on Small Pond, the record showcases Valerian Swing’s sublime technique and speed but unlike previ-ous albums the aim was to focus more on the melodic construction of their songs and less on the extreme. The result is an album that explores more expansive post-rock, rhythmic and cinematic sounds.

Having played all over the world, including the SXSW, ArcTangGent and having shared stages with bands of the caliber of Dillinger Escape Plan, Russian Circles, Boris, Deafheaven, And So I Watch You From Afar, Valerian Swing will bring their eclectic ’Nights' in concert, to Exchange this halloween.

Joining them will be Dialects, who since their inception, have seen something of a meteoric rise within the alternative music scene. With the release of debut EP "Let The Kids Light These Lanterns" and select supports under the likes of Maybeshewill, Lite, Solstafir and Mutiny On The Bounty, Dialects have consistently garnered praise from press and fans alike, citing the band as "simply tremendous" (PROG Magazine), "the fastest rising post-rock band in this part of the world" (Kerrang!), "a fearsome live proposition" (Clash) and "a wealth of sweeping technicality" (The Independent) and "unrivalled" (Punktastic). In the past year, Dialects have continued to build on this momentum with the release of follow up single ‘It’s Not A Ghost… It’s Gravity’, festival appearances at Canadian Music Week, Arctangent, Tramlines, Damnation Festival, and a prolific appearance as part of the prestigious Audiotree live sessions in Chicago.

And completing the bill is Bristol's own electro/experimental rockers Madilan. Their frenetic groove based drumming, synths and dissonant atmospheric guitars will take you on a carefully crafted cosmic journey of discovery.
