McQueen Live with U2 2 - celebrating the music of U2.



McQueen Live is the exciting new destination for live music every Wednesday in Shoreditch. Gig-goers rejoice! McQueen pay homage to famous bands with a top-drawer mix of live acts in an intimate East London club environment. Be thrilled by some of the best bands, appreciation nights and established up-and-coming talent each week. Low-key DJ sessions can be enjoyed from the Lounge with bands situated in the award-winning boutique Club downstairs. With a host of killer cocktail creations and moreish food offerings, there is no shortage of reasons to party every Wednesday night with McQueen Live.



U2-2 was formed by current members in 1992, under the name 'Achtung Baby'.The band quickly became the greatest tribute to U2 in the world. Truly 'look-a-like/sound-a-like' the band have performed shows all over the globe and are generally still regarded as the 'official/longest running' U2 tribute. The band have even performed alongside U2 at the massive 'Feyenoord Stadium' in Rotterdam and have also been featured on national TV in many different countries. The band boast the very best in sounds & they use authentic equipment to replicate U2's varied back-catalogue. They are also the closest 'look-a-likes' in the world; something U2's own security would have to admit, after they accidently led the lads into U2's changing rooms!



1992 - Achtung Baby formed by Luke Pepper.

Steve Kean joins as bass player in 1993.

1993 - With Gary Kean on vocals, the band play their first gigs in Yorkshire Due to a cancellation by The Dopplegangers, Achtung Baby stand in at Fibbers in York & are well received. First review by Mark Chatterton of Silver & Gold fanzine. The review is good, as are all others from the press.

1995 - The band perform all over England, with a few shows in Scotland, proving to be successful.

1996 - Gigs include the massive Sheffield Arena & Don Valley Stadium, where U2 would perform themselves over 13 years later. Fresh from ITV's Stars in their Eyes, the band are joined on vocals by Andy Bagnal, who tells the TV audience that his first gig with the band would be in Falmouth. (It's actually Torquay, where the band are thrown out of their hotel rooms for rowdy behaviour) The band tour Ireland for their first visit, performing live on radio & playing to sell-out crowds. Their last show in Sligo turns out to be a riot, literally, as people outside the venue start to break the windows to hear the band inside. Considering the venue is an old Church, this doesn't sit well with the band & so an announcement is made for calm, before the show continues.

1997 - Gigs follow in the Channel Isles & shows at The Robin & Jb's are well attended. The band perform at The Point Depot in Dublin, to over 7,000 people. Dean won't commit to the gig, so the band fly in a stand-in from Newcastle. Without a rehearsal, the band perform one of their best shows. Andy Bagnal leaves the group to join The Dopplegangers for a brief stint.Achtung Baby are joined on vocals by The Dopplegangers Wayne Taylor. Wayne secures the band with their first major tour of Europe, starting in Portugal for a two week tour. All the venues are sell-outs, with lots of the crowd believing they are seeing the real thing. The band create the sound track to a major fashion show. More TV appearances with live-link up radio interviews The band travel to Holland to perform in Amsterdam & Rotterdam, as guests of the Zooropean fanclub. Their last show is amongside the real U2, at the massive Feyenoord Stadium. U2's security get the bands mixed up, resulting with Achtung Baby being shown into U2's own changing rooms by mistake!

The band perform to over 2,000 people & are privileged to be the only

people allowed in the stadium while U2 perform ONE for a live Top of the Pops link-up. The band pose on the Trabant car used on the Achtung Baby album cover. A second tour of Portugal sees the band black-out a whole village during their sound check. Luckily, all power is resumed before the sell-out show. Wayne records the bulk of a new version of Hold Me, Thrill me, with Luke providing e-bow guitar & backing. The CD goes on sale with lots of interest.

1998 - Wayne Taylor leaves the group. Andy Bagnal joins Luke to perform some acoustic shows around Yorkshire. The band are once again joined on Bass by Steve Kean & Dean Bush. The band part company with the John Ford agency, who have Jean Genie & Limehouse Lizzy on their books. More shows in Ireland, with Dublin's Olympia theatre being a personal best for the band. Most gigs for the band are now sell-outs, especially the Robin in Dudley & The Swan in London. The band are joined on Drums by Guy Shalom & perform in Bahrain for three shows. The band have the run of the Diplomat's Hotel & top up their tans in the 42c heat.

1999 - Achtung Baby now perform the POP show, with a new set list, including Gone, Mofo, Staring at the Sun. Mid Summer, the band are joined on Drums by Pete Akid, his first show being the Olympia theatre in Dublin. Christmas time, Luke leaves the band, being the only remaining founder member. Achtung Baby carry on with Andy, Steve and new drummer.

2008 - Luke reforms the original Achtung Baby, with their first gig selling out Rotherham's Blues Cafe. They sell more tickets than Dr. Feelgood, Nine Below Zero & Free's Simon Kirk. Joined on vocals by Frank Bride, the band perform all over Britain, with their first visit to Ireland in over nine years. The band perform on St. Patrick's night at The Belfast Empire theatre.

The band are joined on Drums by Andy, an avid U2 fan Andy designs the new website & visuals for stage.

2009 - Newly Christened U2-2, the band perform in Sheffield's Meadowhall, as part of the official 360 tour experience. In between performances, the band are interviewed by both BBC1 & ITV1. Many people in the crowd believe they are seeing the real thing, resulting in autograph hunters & much posing for pictures. One U2 fan from Russia 'phones his family to tell them his life has been made special - he's finally 'met' U2. Blackberry phones chooses the band to act as look-a-likes to promote their latest cell-phone, the Curve. Another tour of Ireland, with shows in Belfast, Galway, Limerick & Cork. In Cork at the Mantonotte Hotel, the staff allow the band up on to the roof to pose for pictures. U2 had done the very same way back in 1980.

U2-2 perform at Coventy's Ricoh Stadium, with The Bootleg Beatles. A personal favourite of the band, The Bootleg's use Andy's kit during their show. In Bedford after a successful theatre show, the band perform the world's first acoustic U2 show to a sell out crowd. Promoted by Michael Pipe, the band storm the night & feature highly talented artist Cole Stacey as special guest. A return visit is planned for 2013 & has already sold out!

Frank Bride leaves the group after cancelling shows and owing the band money.

2011 - U2-2 are joined on vocals by Irish man, Brian O'Glanby, who has performed as Bono for over 8 years. Brian is involved in the film world & classes U2's road manager, Dennis Shehan as a friend. The first show is a festival near Royal Wooten-Bassett & is a great success. More gigs follow, but during Christmas time, Brian has to severe ties with the band to work on his degree. Brian also leaves to work on a feature film.

2012 - U2-2 are again joined on vocals by Andy Bagnal, who leaves his group due to musical differences. U2-2 perform in front of Healing Festival to 3000 people.

2014 A show in Den Bosch, Holland sees the band play to 5,700 Dutch fans. The band perform at London's Newham Under the Stars Festival to over 7000 people.

Summer time and the band are joined on vocals by the brilliant Tono Higginson. First shows in St Helen's & Manchester O2. The band play certain shows as The Joshua Tree era, complete with stage clothes and authentic set list. December sees the band working with Mencap and The Edge's cousin on a charity event. Joined with special guest from TV, radio and music.
