WRONG Festival is set to return to the Liverpool Docklands on the 28th of April 2018 for its sophomore outing of visceral, vital and weird rock music from the Freakscene. For one day, a cornucopia of outsiders will descend to provide a feast for the senses.

Following the success of last year’s debut event, which saw the likes of Bo Ningen, The Wytches, Part Chimp and Heck unleash their aural savagery, it’s happening again. WRONG continues to tie together an extremely talented if sometimes overlooked pool of great, visceral and exciting bands, as well as bringing in high profile bands who are leaders and legends of the Freakscene.

The event will take place once again across the trifecta of the Invisible Wind Factory, the North Shore Troubadour and DROP The Dumbulls Gallery, playing host to over 30 bands from the early afternoon to the small hours of the morning. Organised by Liverpool based record label Loner Noise, the bill will contain a wealth of bands from every level of the scene.

BAND BIOS >>>

Future Of The Left - Probably the best band to ever come out of Wales, Future of the Left are veteran noise rock/punk rock/whatever the hell they do artists. Professing to have formed in 2005 as part of a plea agreement following their involvement in an arms deal which left an actor playing Tony Blair dead, or at least pretending really well, over their 5 albums, they've laid the template for rock with an acidic wit and a crushing weight. Andy Falkous' vocals are inimitably idiosyncratic, with one of the most ferocious and instantly identifiable deliveries around, and the band's taut, muscular playing has seen them pulverise and beguile in equal measures throughout their existence. We're delighted to have them headline this year's edition, and they're one of our absolute favourite bands.

Damo Suzuki (Can) - We can hardly believe this is happening, but the great Damo Suzuki of Can will be joining this year's lineup! With his 3 classic albums fronting Can, he helped make them one of the most influential bands of all time; your favourite band's favourite band. Damo's enigmatic improvised performances are legendary. In his current touring iteration, he always performs without rehearsal, meeting the band he's to perform with at the performance. We'll be pinching ourselves until he hits the stage. His band is yet to be announced.

Hark - Fronted by Jimbob Isaac (formerly of Taint), Hark are one of the best metal bands operating in the UK at the moment. Having toured with Clutch, Kylesa and Red Fang, they've had an illustrious start to their career, with two excellent albums under their belt. Coming on like what it'd have sounded like if Mastodon never got beige, they're a facemelting force to be reckoned with.

MUGSTAR - Liverpool's foremost psychedelic sons Mugstar return for a hometown show. The last band to ever perform a Peel Session, their respect in the rock underground is untold, with fans including Thurston Moore and Mudhoney (who they released a split album with). Taking influence from propulsive psychedelic bands like Neu!, Hawkwind and Oneida, as well as noise rock acts such as Sonic Youth, they can be as exhilarating as they can be hypnotic and beautiful.

Hey Colossus - Hey Colossus are one of the underground's best and most prolific acts, with an astounding 11 album discography that spans hellish noise, motorik grooves, crushing sludge, and of late, infectious hooks and post punk inflected psychedelia. One of the most astounding sonic transformations of recent years, the band is now a refined and precise operation, and their teeth are all the more sharp because of it. Their 3 guitar interlocking attack and pulsating rhythm section provide Paul Sykes with an incredible platform from which to spew forth, Nick Cave style. Their latest album The Guillotine is one of the best rock records of the year.

Kagoule - Often touted as the best band in Nottingham, it's not without reason. Kagoule's blend of Smashing Pumpkins meets Dinosaur Jr meets the Fugazi alt rock sound has seen them be lauded by the BBC and support The Who! Their debut album Urth was received to stunning reviews, and its songwriting far belies their (teen)age. With a reputation as a visceral live force, their set isn't one to be missed.

SEX SWING - Sex Swing are an underground supergroup that shouldn't exist by rights. Featuring members of Part Chimp, Mugstar, Dethscallator, Dead Neanderthals and Bonnacons of Doom, their noisemaking pedigree is vast. Summoning a mind bending swamp of broken synths, scrawling sax and insistent baritone guitars, they repetitiously build until you're under their terrible spell, then they perform the sacrifice.

The St. Pierre Snake Invasion - One of the most vicious bands out of Bristol, birthed from the same virulent scene that spat out Idles, comes The St. Pierre Snake Invasion. Hardcore inflected noise rock laced with layers of sarcasm, anger and humour is the name of the game here, with an added element of the irresistible hooks. Vicious music has never been so fun!

Alpha Male Tea Party - Alpha Male Tea Party are probably the foremost mathrock band to emerge from Liverpool, their thunderous, angular style recalling genre godheads And So I Watch You From Afar, as well as contemporaries such as the much loved Cleft. Their third album Health has received unanimous acclaim, and they've established themselves as regulars in the ArcTanGent set. Endless fun from crushing riffs.

Milo's Planes - Operating from the formidable Howling Owl Records stable, Milo's Planes' post punk/post hardcore sound has garnered them a remarkable raft of endorsements from legendary musicians, including from Mike Watt of The Minutemen and The Stooges, and Falco of Future of the Left. With an unhinged energy combined with a wonderful knack for melody reminiscent of Rites of Spring, they're bound to exhilarate.

Grey Hairs - Grey Hairs are underground veterans. Now two albums and several EPs into this project, their members have collectively been involved in the scene for ages, with one of them also featuring in Kogumaza, who famously made a split record with Bardo Pond, and are favourites of both Gringo and God Unknown records. Their double fronted approach lends to a unique dynamic on stage, and their records drip with a sound tampered culturally by teenage angst, but delivered with the focussed anger of someone who's done more living. Their latest record 'Serious Business' opens with the line "Sick, sick of being sick". There's a mission statement if there ever was one.
