(2012) Director Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) brings Les Miserables to the big screen once more, but for the first time as an adaptation of the musical stage play. In every sense this is an epic undertaking, and the casting was key (Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter, Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmayne). In 19th-century France, Jean Valjean, who for decades has been hunted by the ruthless policeman Javert after he breaks parole, agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's daughter, Cosette. The fateful decision changes their lives forever.
