The Buffalo Skinners + Holy Moly and The Crackers + Boss Caine

13/06/2014

About this Event

The Buffalo Skinners

The Buffalo Skinners started out as a busking band in 2010, channelling old folk and skiffle heroes to appreciative ears in northern coastal towns. Four years together now finds them leaning towards a fuller electric sound borrowing from 60's rock & roll, British invasion bands and still, from their first love, folk.

They will be playing old familiar tunes as well songs from their brand new second album "The Other Nine to Five," which they will be releasing on the night!

Their show comes equipped with infectious energy and an arsenal of instruments; Fender Rhodes Keyboard, Violin and Accordion, topped off with their signature ‘harmonious vocal cacophony.'

Listen to their music for free on Bandcamp. It has already made a big impression with some very well respected judges:

"Fantastic." Bob Harris - BBC Radio 2

"I love The Buffalo Skinners, everything they do is energetic, warm and makes you want to dance and sing and drink and smile." Mike Garry - Poet

"Jolly exciting!" Cerys Matthews, BBC 6 Music

"Buskers made good!" Steve Lamacq, BBC Radio 1

Holy Moly & The Crackers

Holy Moly and the Crackers are a six piece 'circus folk' outfit influenced by an eclectic range of styles and artists; the honest grit and gravel of Woody Guthrie, the gypsy bone-cage burlesque of Gogol Bordello, the spectral clarity of Joni Mitchell. As such they play a lively, moonshine mix of Romani, Americana and contemporary British folk-rock.

''a "re-imagining" of three traditional folk/blues songs that evokes eras of whiskey and guns on modern punk folk steroids.' Cover Lay Down

Boss Caine

Boss Caine are a folk/americana collective from York, England centring around gravelly voiced troubadour Daniel Lucas.

"Stunning UK talent!!...Really Something!!" - Bob Harris BBC Radio 2

"Great stuff" - Arlo Guthrie

"Tom Waits singing Ryan Adams if they had both had the good fortune to grow up in Yorkshire" -The Fly

"Certainly amongst the best of the British takes on American roots music"
