THE AMAZING SNAKE HEADS

12/10/2014

About this Event

‘It's been a long time since going to a gig was a visceral, unpredictable experience. [The Amazing Snakeheads are] one of Britain's most exciting new bands' - The Times

Following recent support dates with Jack White and a headline slot on the BBC Introducing stage at T In The Park, The Amazing Snakeheads have announced a full UK tour for October 2014, including their biggest London show to date at The Electric Ballroom on the 23rd.

The Glasgow band will also be playing Secret Garden Party, Stockton Weekender and Reading & Leeds festivals over the summer as well as Bestival in September. Full live dates are below, with newly announced shows in bold.

The band's debut album, Amphetamine Ballads, which saw its UK release in April, was featured on Pitchfork as their Advance Stream last week to coincide with the US release of the album. A monument to the redemptive powers of rock 'n' roll - full of rage, romance and dark humour - Amphetamine Ballads is an uncompromising, astonishingly visceral record.

Press quotes for Amphetamine Ballads:

‘Glasgow's The Amazing Snakeheads make music with a scowl and a howl... it's a thrilling snapshot of a young rock ‘n' roll band bent to no-one else's will but their own.'

Q

"The Amazing Snakeheads' debut album Amphetamine Ballads is not for prissy pants, it growls and grimaces across filthy blues like a pub fight in Nashville."

Noisey

‘Malevolent Nick Cave-ish narratives, vicious basslines, squally guitar and touches on honking saxophone, all executed with a visceral energy that's almost painful to behold.'

Uncut

‘At a time when most of what passes for alternative rock sounds desiccated, Amphetamine Ballads feels raw and potent and alive.'

The Guardian - 4*

‘This record is so dark, so seedy, so grotty basement-fuelled, it's possible to smell, feel and touch damp while it plays.'

DIY

‘An album bristling with unapologetic rock'n'roll.'
