After its recent facelift, the vintage Manchester pub has emerged friendly and welcoming to both regulars and those looking for a cheap drink in the Chinatown or Piccadilly area. And while the interiors are much more pleasant and inviting, the improvements can't keep it from tussling with The Circus Tavern for the honour of Manchester's Smallest Pub.
Despite its compact nature, The Grey Horse is never short in its selection of beer, both from Hyde's Brewery who run the pub, including the fruits of the labour of their new Beer Studio, as well as real ale from all around the UK. Along with the ale and staples of lagers, and one of the best tasting pints of Guinness in all of Manchester, there are also pitchers of cocktails and weekly wine deals available to make sure it can accommodate all customers at all times of day and night.
In Manchester's saturated pub scene, The Grey Horse is a refreshing combination of the traditional pub values of cheap beer, friendly atmosphere and helpful service, as well the constant innovation in its design and the drinks it offers. As perfect for a few quiet drinks after work with friends as much as it is for the ale hunters.
